Kicking off my PhD grind. (Update: Why did I want to do it?)
My name is Mengze Tang and I'm a first-year PhD student of computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, working with Prof. Aws Albarghouthi. I have also had the pleasure of working with Prof. Shivaram Venkataraman on vector indexing. I interned at Microsoft Research Asia in the summer of 2025.

I enjoy watching and playing football during my free time. Messi is the GOAT.
I also like watching or playing many other sports, including basketball, snooker, and F1. You name it—except for the ones I do not think are sports.
I like listening to cantonese pop music, especially Eason Chan. I'm also learning to play the guitar right now.
